Student Profile
The student is a Year 1 child aged 5.5 years. An educational psychology report identifies Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder with Level 3 support needs, moderate support required. She currently receives Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.
The school is actively supporting her with a reduced timetable and a modified curriculum. Toileting training was completed in the previous term and she is now independent with support as outlined in her care plan.
Academically, the student is working at Foundation Stage 2 level for Maths and English. She follows a modified curriculum and is developing verbal communication skills. She uses gestures, short sentences and monosyllabic words and often repeats language modelled by adults. She requires additional support with spelling and sequencing tasks.
Her sitting tolerance has improved, although there are dips following school breaks. She demonstrates verbal stimming and has a sensory profile in place, with current support focusing primarily on behaviour.
Social and Emotional Needs:
The student requires support with socialisation. She may avoid engaging in social activities that do not align with her interests and benefits from structured encouragement to interact with peers. Support is required to promote emotional regulation, engagement and positive social interactions in a calm and predictable manner.
Personal Care and Independence:
Eating requires prompting and reminders.
Washroom support is required and an intimate care plan is in place. The student tends to avoid using the washroom and requires gentle encouragement and assistance when needed.
